Rwandan Orphan Fine Art Prints

Last Fall I had the pleasure of photographing some magical children at the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) in Black Mountain, NC. I’m the staff photographer for LEAF. These children were from Nyanza in the mountains of Rwanda. They watched their families die horrible deaths in 1994 during the genocide, however you wouldn’t know that if you met them. There is no finer example of perseverance. These children have raised themselves from 2-4 years of age on the streets of Kigali. They are beautiful, joyful, humble and very talented. Watching them dance and sing was a real joy. When they performed there was not a dry eye at the festival. My daughter, India, was quite taken by them as well.

I photographed the orphans when they visited and they proved to be an excellent fine art inspiration. I produced a series of eight black and white images that I’m selling as prints. These beautiful prints are 12×18″ printed on 13×19″ archival matte paper. The prints are limited to 30 each and are numbered. The price per print is $100. LEAF International will receive $50 per print to further their efforts in helping underprivileged children all over the world. You’ll receive a printed “thank you” note as an additional reminder of your contribution.

As a parent, I know how much it takes to raise a healthy child, so my heart has been opened to do my part in helping children who don’t have necessary resources. Please join me in this worthy cause.

Maryville University, 10 years!

Just found this article that has a pretty good chronological bio of yours truly here. I simply did a Google search for my business name and low and behold, there it was! A good read. Enjoy!

As many of you know, India and I recently went to San Francisco. We had a blast! We saw a beautiful wedding, redwoods, animals, sunsets, the gorgeous coast from HWY 1, and so on. Of course since I’ve been back, I’ve been slammed. I’ll get my images posted in the next week or so, but I wanted to get up at least one teaser.

India has photos already on her Flickr. Showing me up, as always. Check them out and leave comments. I read them to her.

Be well, everyone!

Talked my daughter into letting me do a shoot with her in the lilies as a house warming gift for her mom. She did it because she loves her mom. She’s smiling because I promised her ice cream.

Took this on the fantastic Dewees Island off the coast of South Carolina, next to Isle of Palms. I was invited by the director of Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) of which I am a Staff photographer.

We had a blast on the island. It’s totally private. No cars. You have to get there by ferry and your name must be on the list. Because of this, I saw maybe 20 people that weren’t with our group my entire stay.

Can’t wait to go back!

Pete Francis goes live!

Pete Francis Website

I was fortunate enough to get to design the Web site for national recording artist, Pete Francis, from Dispatch. It employs a new Flash content management system. The client has control over all images, text, videos, news entries and songs by logging into the site through a web browser.

Visit site.

Howdy!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. My content isn’t coming as quickly as I would like, but I am working on it.

Meanwhile check out Ben Betsalel’s site that I recently finished. He’s an amazingly talented painter living here in Asheville.

Welcome to the new Curve Theory blog!

There will be lots of information streaming your way. Stay tuned!
